Although not traditional means of celebrating a wedding anniversary, it was very typical for us. Last year Bruiser and Mel came on our anniversary dinner to a very fancy restaurant. This year, we went to back to back Cinco de Mayo parties of which Bruiser and Mel were guests at both! And to make it even better, they are getting married 4 days after our 3rd anniversary. We will be celebrating together for life.
Sunday we went to Eagan for a party thrown by my girlfriend Marit. There were other attendees with kids a little older than Abe that he's met before and he had fun "sharing" with them. He was mostly interested in the food though (which was delicious, especially paired with the out of this world sangria-which Abe did not sample!) Zach and I had a good time catching up with old friends and a toast was made in our honor, which made me feel pretty special.
When we got home and finally got the monster to bed, we watched parts of our wedding video. We both joked that our vows were so corny, but we both cried during the speeches. It was so nice to revisit that day. The people, the look of nervous excitement on our faces, the weather (ha!)
Monday we dressed up in our partyware and headed to a fundraiser for the YMCA . Once again, Abe went bonkers for the food and beer bottles. Since it was his second night being held a lot, he got antsy so we headed outside. Abe loves grass, probably more than he should. He was hamming it up for me and squealing at passerby.
Many of our friends were at the fundraiser so we received many more well wishes. Another night of delicious food, great company and our favorite wild man? Perfect anniversary for us.
Abe ended up being up from 2:15-3:45 AM overnight (probably from an abundance of guac and shredded pork!) but both Zach and I were relatively content to go sit with him in his room and rock him. He was the star of our 2nd year of marriage and holding his 21+ pound squirmy wormy body was a nice reflection of the past year.
To many more years!!
Part 2 to come. :)
