And Zach hit the jackpot-he got a 3 day festival of fatherhood! Zach has been hinting that he wanted new sandals, so in true Jenna style, I ordered them from Amazon and let him open them straight from the Amazon box in the parking lot on our way to dinner Friday night. :) He loved them and was so glad Abe and I picked out the shoes he wanted!
I had convinced him that he wanted sushi after he told me he wanted a fish fry on Friday night, so we started out at a downtown Saint Paul sushi restaurant for happy hour. 5 sushi rolls, potstickers and edamame fit the bill! Abe even tried the edamame and some crab and sushi rice and definitely enjoyed it.
We then hit up Tin Whiskers, a brand new tap room in Saint Paul. All three of us were in heaven, as Zach and I so enjoy trying the local brews, and they had lots of room for Abe to get down on the floor and crawl around. When we got home, Zach requested a bonfire in the backyard with a few more beers and I happily obliged once Abe was down for the count.

Saturday I had to work at Ronald McDonald House, but that meant Zach got a few hours of guy time with our little guy. They played hard, had Chipotle for dinner and cuddled before bed. For some reason, Abe was a very good sleeper Saturday and it was awesome!
Sunday, Abe and I got up and made sweet potato pancakes. YUM! They were supposed to be topped with peach slices which Abe and I found delicious, but Zach decided to have his with maple syrup. We hope to continue this early morning breakfast tradition for years to come!
After Zach got up, we went on a long walk on a trail about a mile from our house. It was beautiful! Abe happily munched on his puffs, we looked at the creek and got good exercise.
We finished the night with absolutely amazing steaks on the grill, a fresh Farmer's market salad and broccoli and deviled eggs. And, because Abe and I picked up rhubarb at the Farmer's market, the lucky Dad will also be enjoying strawberry rhubarb crisp this week!
It was truly the perfect weekend for our family. Lots of quality time together, and it was so fun to celebrate. Abe and Zach were just two of a kind all weekend-the laughs they get from one another are the best!
Happy Father's Day, Dada Zach!
