Finding Out

I already feel like this story will get longer than I intend. Just a fair warning. :)

I have been wanting to have a baby since I was probably 13 years old, I have always wanted to be a mom to lots of kids. I reluctantly agreed to wait to try for a baby until after our honeymoon.  I had probably most definitely driven Zach crazy talking about our future babies.

After a few months we decided we were going to go to Mexico in the spring, so we decided if it didn't happen before a certain date, that we were going to wait until Mexico to try again. I of course didn't want to hit that date with no positives!

I started bleeding very early in December-about 5 days before I should have. I cried because it was indicative of problems I had been having that summer, and meant I would not be getting pregnant easily or on my own.

Later that month, on December 11, we had a very long training at our work, followed by a happy hour. I went and had half of a beer because I knew I had to drive home. I got home around 9:30 and decided to pee on a stick. Why, I don't even know. I got into the shower afterwards and was thinking, "I know it's positive."

This was the first time my heart wasn't pounding out of my chest when I took a test. I very calmly looked at the little stick with 2 lines. Positive. Wow. Right then I started thinking of ways to tell Zach when he got home at 10:30. I tried to lay down and couldn't, so I started googling and looking at The Bump.

I decided it was only right for Big Brother Jett to tell his dad. I made a sign that said "Mommy thinks I'll be a big brother on August 25, 2013" and tied it on Jett's neck. Zach came home and walking painfully slow through the house. Finally I yelled at him to come in. He started talking to me and I just kept trying to get him to look at Jett's neck. Finally, he looked, read it, and then asked skeptically, "Why do you think that?" (since I had already been whining that month)

I screamed, "Because I took a test and it was positive!!" and showed him my little $.37 test from Amazon that looks like a chlorine test you use in a swimming pool. He squinted at the test and asked how I even knew how to read those tests and that he didn't think I should use such cheap tests. I told him that I had taken 2 and they both showed 2 lines; in my book that means I'm pregnant!

Can you see why Zach was skeptical? There's a teensy squint and you see it line. :)

We kissed and hugged and talked about the baby. I couldn't even sleep that night. I spent the next 3 days in "i just found out I'm pregnant" bliss. :)
