Abe and Zach are two peas in a pod and I love that we can celebrate Zach on Father's Day. (Like the guy would ever let a celebration of him go unnoticed!)
Zach's one request this year was to do exactly what we did last year- get sushi and a beer at a new place.
Friday night, we started out at Sakura, where we were greatly entertained by Abe mowing down sushi rice and an accident involving a police car 5 feet from our table. We shared 5 sushi rolls and we love finding our favorites. Also, notice that we got to have dinner with a celebrity. ;)
We then headed to Wabasha Brewing Company. Brand new in a cutesy neighborhood of Saint Paul. Unfortunately we had a terrible experience there and didn't even get a sip of the beers they served us! I could tell that Zach was just so bummed, so I said we could stop at a liquor store and he could pick something new. He made me a mojito while I put Abe to bed and we still had a fun night.
Saturday the big guy requested a trip to Teddy Bear Park and time to mosey around Stillwater. Abe was being a silly goose and would only do the same ladder and slide at Teddy Bear Park but we still enjoyed getting some sun and exercise. We then made the 1/2 mile trek down to Maple Island Brewing, which was fantastic. Probably one of my favorites. They had free popcorn for Abe, good music, and some fun things for Zach to try.
We planned on taking Abe on a real trolley ride and he got really excited. When we found out the trolley was going to cost us $39 we politely declined and told Abe we can come back for his birthday.
Sunday, we let Zach sleep in until 1 PM with no complaining. ;) Abe and I went to a FANTASTIC park and spent 2 hours eating our breakfast, climbing, swinging, and checking out ducks. We then stopped at a butcher shop on the way home where Abe proceeded to ask for sample after sample of bratwurst.
After nap, we had my parents and sisters over (and Carl, of course. I can't let Carl go hungry on Sundays!). What a fun time! Abe played and played and played, we had delicious food and an amazing cake, and we got some good pictures of us all.
