Baby Abraham is 6 months old!

We can't believe it either. 6 months of sharing our lives with this little squirmy, grunting, smiling, squeaking boy.

We missed an update for his 5 month birthday due to my work getting in the way, and man did I miss him. I was only seeing my baby from about 645 until 7 when he went to bed. (And his wakeups in the middle of the night, but that's not quality time!)

But, new things ahead for the Detko fam. I start a new job Monday with more flexibility. I will still have a busy season but the commute and smaller environment will be a good change for us.

Enough about me!

In Abe's 6 month of life, he has changed tremendously!

He now:

*sits up independently and steadily for a LONG time. He will play with his cups or blocks for an hour before getting bored. He looks like such a big boy, and it is just so fun to watch. He wants ALL the toys in front if him.

* Rolls everywhere! We first witnessed a roll over February 8th. We knew he'd do back to front first and he did! Then on February 15th, Zach and Lori saw Abe roll back to front and then back to his belly. (Willie then told me she had already seen both ways earlier that week).

* reaches for us, but especially for me. I hold out my arms and he excitedly jumps and reaches for me. Then he squeals and gives me a big hug. It's the best.

* has teeth!! We weren't expecting teeth so soon, and truthfully I was (am) scared of teeth. I know the front bottom teeth are probably not the ones to cause a lot of misery and sleepless nights but man, we didn't even have a clue the teeth were coming. No crankiness, no weird poops, no chapped cheeks or excessive drooling. We saw his gums getting whiter  and then BAM, a tooth appeared March 3rd. I felt in his mouth before daycare on March 6, and he hadnt gotten the left. Willie informed us that after his nap she realized lefty popped through!

*eats some food! Megan, our NP, said to wait as close to six months as possible to start eating. Abe has been so crazy about food. He would sit next to us and grunt and grunt and grunt until you gave him a bite, so needless to say, we started sporadically giving him things to eat. Now he has something every night. He first had guacamole (ha, but we will just day it was avocado!) Now, he's had oatmeal, butternut squash, peaches, pears, avocado, banana chunks, watermelon, and as of tonight, chicken! Next is more veggies and also incorporating eggs and other protein.

* sleeps on his tummy. And dang, it's adorable. He started rolling himself over and he curls his little body up and we've left him that way. He's been sleeping much better most nights and only wakes up 1-2 times a night. He still has his off nights but also has had one night where he slept all the way through. He was so happy the next day!
